Gamers’ Review: The God of War - The Chains of Olympus [PSP]
The day has come when the Titans, monsters, and deities of ancient Greece kneel to the power you wield in your hands. The God of War: Chains of Olympus features Kratos, a warlord enslaved by the gods’ promise to erase all his recollection of the multitudes that fell to his blade and finally free him from his nightmarish reality.
Gameplay for GoW: The Chains of Olympus is maddeningly simple, the result: an overly powerful warrior with tons of moves hidden up his sleeves. Armed with an arsenal of weapons like the Blades of Chaos, Gauntlets of Zeus, Wrath of Charon, and Helios Shield, Kratos doles out terrifyingly powerful attacks and combos. And what makes this even better is that this exhilarating gameplay is interplayed with eye-charring visual effects that highlight the graphical prowess of the console.
However legendary and jaw dropping the game’s graphical design is, its storyline is equally intricate and magical. Don’t let the God-Warlord cliché fool you into thinking the GoW: The Chains of Olympus has a lame plot. The story slowly unfolds yet does not fail to deliver that powerful twist in the end. It interplays Kratos’ struggle as slave-to-the-gods and his personal quest to quell his raging emotions and clashing values.
Even when you’ve beaten the game it still offers a few challenges that would be heart–rendingly difficult. Though these challenges prove to be insanely hard the rewards would certainly be worthwhile. Thus, borne out of all these elements is a mythical game that is well into the path of immortality in the halls of gaming.
