Empirical evidence declares that every typical person –no mater how young or old, penniless or with brimming bank accounts—would have an expertise on celebrating the holidays; this level of mastery comparable to that of a scholar with a PHD. Hence, almost in inverse proportion to one’s chance of winning the lottery one would surely have indulged in excessive eating these holidays. The added weight and the feeling of guilt for not keeping the sanctity of their diet would then drive us to make this New Year’s resolution: a healthier next year.

Yet, a few days later we end up breaking this resolution. Failure is attributable to the fact that the changes we impose are too stringent to be effective. Experts advise to tackle our health issue on its lighter side. And to succeed in this campaign for health it is recommended to first amend one’s eating style. We could start by lessening the amount of food eaten, say, for instance we could curtail that 6-ounce meal to 4 in two weeks time. Slowly but surely if this regimen coupled with a conscious effort to lessen fat and carb intake continues a thorough revamping of our eating habits should follow.

Next up, the other equally important facet is physical exercise. Most of us pass off the chance to exercise because of lousy excuses like: “were too busy,” or “I’ll burn fat when I’ve got fat to burn!” Another cliché ironically offers all the enlightenment we need to surpass this trial of fire, the plainly blatant “if there’s a will there’s a way.” Simply said we should, out of our own resolve, find time to flex those long forlorn and flabby muscles. We could start by doing light stretching coupled with a few jumping jacks or jogging a few yards in the morning– in other words at least enough physical strain to raise one’s heart rate to around 100 b/m.

With correct disposition, this method would definitely bear fruits that would last long. Who knows, maybe taking it easy is the easiest way to a healthy living.
