There are a lot Outdoor Activities to choose from but most of the time, trekking and hiking are used interchangeably. Actually, there is a similarity between these two but their main differences are the length and activities involved.

For trekking, this outdoor activity only takes place on specific trekking trails. These trails have definite length or course and allotted time to traverse which usually only takes up half a day. In terms of clothing and things brought, trekking involves simpler outfits and lesser things brought. The essentials brought in a trekking activity are water, small first aid kit, sun protecting stuffs, etc.

Hiking on the other hand is an expanded version of trekking. It has a general end point but no definite trail and time frame. The route and time frame actually depends on the pace defined by the hikers. So usually, hiking takes longer time and more freedom on exploring routes. Besides the trail and time frame, hiking requires more complicated clothing because it is accomplished in days. It also requires more stuff to bring to facilitate cooking and camping along the route. So if one is to choose between trekking and hiking, the time available will be the determining factor. The more time is available, hiking is good option. But for a day or half, trekking would be best.
